The Father’s House

Have you ever had a street kid beg you to take them home with you? Have you ever had to look deep into the glossy eyes of a child addicted to glue, rugby, and other “poor people” drugs?
Well, I have. Which is why Mahal Foundation decided to take on a project right outside of Subic to build a home that we will be calling The Father’s House. We have partnered with a local organization to fund the buying of an abandoned mansion

Every Saturday, Mahal Foundation helps to sustain a program that takes kids from the streets for a few hours and teaches them what we’ve called Behavioral Modification. We spend countless hours with about 50 children in trying to teach drug prevention, reading, writing, and much more. We have seen some great failures, but we’ve seen phenomenal successes.

The greatest success has been with two brothers who were about 10 and 8 years of age when our staff came into first contact with them. Our staff took the two brothers into their house, and the brothers ran away several times because of withdrawals that they were having with cheap street drugs. After many times of reconciliation and our staff pouring love on these brothers, we can finally say that they have made 180 degree changes in their life.

I tell this short story because I want you to dream with me. How much easier would it be to rehabilitate a drug addicted street child if we had a place that we could house them.
